What size dumpster do I need?
To pick a dumpster size, think about the material first and the volume second: heavy debris such as concrete, dirt, tile and shingles goes in the 10 yard because of the weight limit; light, bulky debris goes in the 20, 30 or 40 depending on the job. What are the five sizes?
Every box on Javi's trucks, with its price, the disposal tonnage that comes with it, its footprint, and the pickup-truck loads it holds. Read the tonnage column with the dimensions column, because the two decide different jobs.

Why think in pickup loads instead of cubic yards?
Because nobody can picture twenty cubic yards, and almost everyone has loaded a pickup bed. The 10 yard is about 3 beds. The 20 is about 6. The 30 is about 9 and the 40 about 12. Walk around the pile, count how many times you would have to fill a truck to make it disappear, and the size is usually obvious. If the answer is one or two, you may not need a box at all; junk removal is quoted by the job.

Why does weight decide before volume?
A cubic yard of broken concrete weighs roughly two tons. A cubic yard of furniture and boxes weighs a small fraction of that. A large box filled with concrete or dirt weighs more than the truck can safely lift and more than the road allows, so heavy debris goes in a 10 yard loaded partway, below the marked fill line, rather than a big box loaded full. The 10 yard includes 1 ton, so a few wheelbarrows of concrete reach the allowance long before the box looks full, and that is fine: the 10 is priced and built for it, and concrete in the 10 carries no handling charge. Put the same concrete in a 20 and you pay $150 for handling plus $83 per ton over 2 tons, and the truck may not be able to lift a full box at all. Heavy goes small; bulky goes big. When in doubt, why go up a size?
Because the step between sizes is small and the second delivery is not. From the 10 to the 15 is $75. From the 15 to the 20 is $45. From the 20 to the 30 is $155. Ordering a second 10 yard because the first one filled is $375 and a day of waiting. Piles look smaller on the floor than they are in a box: cabinets do not nest, sofas do not fold, drywall goes in as sheets. The exception is heavy material, where the rule reverses because the weight limit arrives before the walls do. 10 vs 20 runs that math on the two most common sizes.
Where will it fit?
All five sizes are 8 feet wide. The 10 is 13 feet long and 3.5 feet tall, the 15 is 15 feet long, the 20 and 30 are 16 feet long at 5 and 6 feet tall, and the 40 is roughly 22 feet long and 8 feet tall, a box that is more common on job sites than in driveways. The truck needs a roughly flat spot, about three feet on each side, a straight run of about 34 feet in front to back in, and 22 feet of clearance overhead to tilt the box off, so look up for branches and wires. On pavers or a soft driveway, two sheets of plywood under the rails are cheap insurance.
Can I mix sizes or swap mid-job?
Yes to both. Sizes can be mixed on one job, a 10 for the concrete and a 20 for everything else, and a full box can be swapped for an empty one at the published price so the crew keeps working; the contractor guide covers swap timing on a job site.
