Dumpster for a kitchen remodel
A kitchen demo, cabinets, counters, the floor and the drywall behind it all, fills a 15 yard: $450 delivered with 1.75 tons of disposal and 7 days included. Stone countertops and a tile floor are where the weight is, and a large kitchen with both can nudge past the allowance. The appliances do not go in the box. Call (407) 860-8640.

Which size for a kitchen demo?
Cabinets are the surprise. Uppers and lowers come off the wall as boxes that do not nest, and a run of twelve cabinets with the doors still on takes more room than the sofa did in the last cleanout. Add the countertops, the sink, a tile floor, the soffit, the old drywall behind the cabinets and the packaging the new kitchen arrives in, and a normal kitchen is about 5 pickup loads: a 15 yard. A galley kitchen in a condo can make do with a 10. A large open kitchen taken back to the studs, or a kitchen plus the adjoining family room floor, is a 20.
| Kitchen | What comes out | Size | Included | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Galley or condo kitchen, cabinets and counters only | About 3 pickup loads | 10 yard | 1 ton | $375 |
| Typical kitchen: cabinets, counters, floor, backsplash, drywall | About 5 pickup loads | 15 yard | 1.75 tons | $450 |
| Large kitchen to the studs, or kitchen plus adjoining floors | About 6 pickup loads | 20 yard | 2 tons | $495 |
Where is the weight in a kitchen?
Not in the cabinets. A whole kitchen of particleboard boxes and doors weighs a few hundred pounds. The weight is in three places.
Stone countertops: granite or quartz at the usual 3 centimetres runs about 18 to 20 pounds per square foot, so 60 square feet of counters is 1,100 to 1,200 pounds before the sink cut-out comes back. Laminate is a tenth of that.
The tile floor: ceramic or porcelain with its thinset is about 4 to 5 pounds per square foot, and an old Florida kitchen with a mortar bed under the tile can be 10 pounds or more. A 200-square-foot kitchen floor is 800 pounds to a ton by itself.
Drywall and cement board: about 2 pounds a square foot for half-inch drywall, more for the backer board behind a tile backsplash. Two walls of it is a couple of hundred pounds.
Add it up for a typical kitchen with stone counters and a tile floor and the load is somewhere between 1.25 and 2 tons. The 15 yard includes 1.75 tons; a big kitchen with a mud-bed floor can run a quarter ton or so over, billed at $83 per ton from the scale ticket, so a bad case is about $533. If the floor is the heavy part and the cabinets are the bulky part, the cleanest setup is a 15 for the kitchen and the tile in the bottom, spread flat across the floor of the box rather than piled at one end; the weight guide explains why flat matters to the truck.
What does a kitchen remodel dumpster cost, all in?
Delivery, pickup, 1.75 tons and 7 days come with the $450. On a kitchen the two things that can add to it are weight, above, and time, below. Nothing is paid on this site; We keep a card on file for every rental and email your invoice — pay by debit or credit card. We don't take cash or checks.
| Scenario | Box | Extras | All in |

| Kitchen plus the family-room tile, one box | 20 yard, $495 | Tile in a 20 carries the $150 heavy-debris charge | $645 plus any overage |
What from a kitchen cannot go in the box?
Cabinets, counters, sinks, faucets, tile, drywall, trim, flooring, light fixtures and the cardboard all go in. The list of what stays out is short and specific.
- The appliances: refrigerator, range, dishwasher, microwave, the old water heater if it goes at the same time. Appliances are not permitted in a roll-off; Javi's appliance removal carries them out of the kitchen for you
- Paint, stain, solvents, adhesive cans and the propane cylinder from the grill: petroleum products, flammables and sealed containers are refused at the landfill
- Fluorescent tubes from the old soffit lighting: sealed and hazardous, keep them aside for the county's household hazardous waste program
How long does a kitchen remodel need the box?
The demo is one or two days, and most homeowners want the dumpster gone once the room is bare because the driveway is where the new cabinets get staged. The 7-day rental covers demo week comfortably. Contractors who want a box on site through the install for the packaging keep it at $30 a day up to 30 days, or send the first box away and order a second one for the last week; the second delivery is the published price again, so past about a week of extra days a second box is the cheaper move. Order for the demo morning; a request in by 2pm is usually same day in the core area.
Where does the box go, and how do I order?
The driveway, as near the door the cabinets will come out of as the truck can set it. A 15 yard is 15 feet long and 4.5 feet tall, an easy lift over the side for a base cabinet. Keep the truck's approach clear on delivery and pickup days, and put plywood under the rails on pavers. Call (407) 860-8640 or use the quote form with the kitchen's rough size, whether the counters are stone and whether the floor is tile; those two answers set the size. If the bathroom is being redone in the same week, the bathroom remodel page shows why that debris is heavier than it looks and often goes in the same box. Every fee is on the pricing page.
Questions people ask
What size dumpster do I need for a kitchen remodel?
A 15 yard for a typical kitchen taken down to the drywall, $450 with 1.75 tons included. A galley kitchen fits a 10; a large kitchen to the studs is a 20.
Can kitchen appliances go in the dumpster?
No. Household appliances are not permitted in a roll-off. Javi's appliance removal takes the refrigerator, range and dishwasher separately.
How much do granite countertops weigh?
About 18 to 20 pounds per square foot at 3 centimetres thick, so 60 square feet is well over half a ton. They count toward the 1.75 tons allowance.
Can I put the old tile floor in the same dumpster as the cabinets?
Yes. Load the tile first, spread flat across the floor of the box, and stack the cabinets on top. A big tile floor with a mortar bed may push the load slightly over the allowance at $83 per ton.
How long can I keep the dumpster during the remodel?
7 days are included; after that it is $30 a day up to 30 days. Past a week of extra days, a second box at the published price is cheaper.
