Dumpster for new construction
On a new build, the working box is the 30 yard: $650 delivered with 3 tons of disposal and 7 days included, swapped for an empty one at the published price each time it fills. Framing offcuts, sheathing, drywall and the packaging every delivery arrives in are bulky and light, so volume drives the size. Slab and site debris ride separately in a 10 yard. Call (407) 860-8640.

Which size for which phase of the build?
A house produces different debris at every phase, and one box on a swap schedule handles most of it. Site work and the slab produce dirt, broken block and concrete: heavy, and a 10 yard job. Framing produces the bulkiest scrap on the project, offcuts, sheathing, pallets and strapping, and a framing crew on a large house fills a 40 yard faster than a 30. Dry-in and mechanicals produce little. Drywall, then trim, cabinets and flooring, produce scrap and a great deal of cardboard, foam and shrink wrap. The 30 yard at $650 is the box that carries a typical single-family build from framing to final clean, swapped two or three times.
| Phase | What it produces | Size | Included | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Site work and slab | Dirt, roots, block, broken concrete, form scrap | 10 yard, loaded partway | 1 ton | $375 |
| Framing and sheathing | Lumber offcuts, OSB, pallets, strapping, truss blocking | 30 yard or 40 yard | 3 tons or 4 tons | $650 or $800 |
| Roofing, windows, siding | Shingle cutoffs, wrap, window packaging, siding ends | 30 yard | 3 tons | $650 |
| Drywall, trim, cabinets, flooring | Drywall scrap, joint-compound buckets, cardboard, foam, tile offcuts | 30 yard | 3 tons | $650 |
| Final clean | Packaging, protective film, sweepings | 20 yard | 2 tons | $495 |
How do swaps work on a job site?
A swap is a full box out and an empty one in, at the published price for the size, on one truck visit. Call when the box is at three-quarters, not when it is over the line, because a load above the marked fill line is $150 and can be refused, and a crew with nowhere to throw scrap stops working or starts a pile. A swap request in by 2pm usually happens the same day when a truck has room on that side of town, otherwise first thing next morning; the contractor guide covers timing in detail. Each box carries its own 7 days and its own tonnage, so a 30 yard that sits through a slow phase runs into extra days at $30 a day after the first week, and past 30 days the terms require a swap anyway. Builds that run months are usually better on monthly service, where the box is on a cadence rather than an order each time.
What does construction scrap weigh?
Framing, sheathing and packaging are the lightest loads a landfill sees: a full 30 yard of them is usually 1.5 to 2.5 tons, inside the 3 tons allowance. Drywall is the phase that pushes weight, at about 2 pounds a square foot for half-inch board; the scrap from a 2,500-square-foot house, with the cutoffs and the buckets, runs a ton or more and can push a mixed box over. Roofing cutoffs are heavy for their size; a whole tear-off is a different job, on the roof replacement page. The rule that protects the budget is simple: nothing from the slab, the footings or the site grading goes in the 30. Broken block, concrete washout, a wheelbarrow of dirt at a time, they add up to a heavy-debris handling charge of $150 in any box over 10 yards and eat the allowance at two tons per cubic yard. Keep a 10 yard on site during slab and site work, then send it away. Overage on any box is $83 per ton from the scale ticket; the weight guide has the material-by-material numbers.
What does a new-construction dumpster cost, all in?
Every box is the published price with delivery, pickup, 7 days and its tonnage included, and a swap is that price again. A single-family build that takes three 30-yard swaps and one 10 yard for site work is a number you can put on the budget before the permit is pulled. We keep a card on file for every rental and email your invoice — pay by debit or credit card. We don't take cash or checks. Accounts for builders running several boxes a month are a phone call, not a form.
| Scenario | Boxes | Extras | All in |

| Framing crew on a large house | One 40 yard, $800 | None | $800 |
| 30 yard kept through a three-week phase | One 30 yard, $650 | 14 extra days at $30 | $1,070 |
| Block and concrete thrown in the 30 | One 30 yard, $650 | $150 handling charge plus overage | $800 plus $83 per ton over |
What cannot go in a construction dumpster?
Lumber, OSB, drywall, shingles, siding, cardboard, foam, plastic wrap, pallets, tile and flooring offcuts, PVC and copper scrap, wire and cabinet packaging all go in. Refused at the landfill:
- Paint, primer, solvents, adhesives, sealers and their cans with product in them; joint-compound buckets are fine
- Fuel cans, propane cylinders from the roofing torch or the temporary heater, and sealed drums of anything
- Tires and batteries from site equipment
- Appliances delivered for the house that arrived damaged: not permitted in a roll-off; appliance removal handles them
- Anything above the marked fill line, which on a framing box means a $150 charge and a refused pickup
Placement on a lot, and how to order
On a new build the box usually sits on the lot itself, on the future driveway or beside it, where the truck can back straight in: about 34 feet of approach, 22 feet of clearance overhead, and ground firm enough for a truck. A 30 yard is 16 feet long, 8 wide and 6 tall, the same footprint as the 20; the 40 is roughly 22 feet long and 8 tall. Keep the approach clear of deliveries and parked trucks on swap days, because a truck that cannot reach the box is a $150 trip charge. Javi's also rents skid steers from $350 a day for site cleanup and material handling, with delivery to the site available. Call (407) 860-8640 or send the quote form with the lot address, the phase you are in and the swap cadence you expect. The construction dumpster service page covers the service itself, and every fee is on the pricing page.
Questions people ask
What size dumpster for new home construction?
A 30 yard as the working box, $650 with 3 tons included, swapped as it fills. A framing crew on a large house may prefer a 40 at $800.
How much does a construction dumpster swap cost?
The published price for the size, $650 for a 30 yard, with its own 7 days and tonnage. Call at three-quarters full so the crew never waits.
Can concrete and block from the slab go in the construction dumpster?
Keep them out of the 30. Heavy debris carries a $150 handling charge in any box over 10 yards and eats the allowance. A separate 10 yard during site work is the right setup.
Can I keep a dumpster for the whole build?
One box can stay up to 30 days, at $30 a day after the first 7. For a build that runs months, monthly service puts the box on a swap schedule instead.
Do you offer accounts for builders?
